On Dec. 30, the Ontario Chief Medical Officer of Health (OCMOH) announced that schools in Ontario will remain closed to all students, including remote learners, for two days following the Winter Break. This two-day closure period will provide school boards with time to implement the additional health and safety measures, as announced by the OCMOH, that are intended to support a safer return to in-person learning. Details can be found in the Ontario government’s news release.
As a result, all Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) schools will reopen to in-person learners on Jan. 5, 2022, and students currently enrolled in the Learn@Home program will resume remote learning on Jan. 5, 2022. Please note there will be no transportation on Jan. 3 or 4, 2022. Transportation services will resume on Jan. 5. Families are reminded that all students must complete and pass the daily COVID-19 self-screening tool each day, prior to attending in-person learning. Based on the recommendation of the OCMOH, the daily COVID-19 self-screening tool has been updated and includes a more sensitive COVID-19 symptom list as well as the requirement for anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 to self-isolate and stay home, regardless of vaccination status. Families will receive daily reminders to complete the COVID-19 self-screening tool with their child(ren) and students will be asked, upon arrival at school, to confirm that it has been completed. Thank you for your understanding. We look forward to welcoming students back to school on Jan. 5, 2022.
